Dear owners,

By now we've all found some way to adjust to the regulations requiring stay-at-home, social distancing, and wearing masks. In order to align with these governmental rules, Timberlane II has closed our clubhouse to any event (including the monthly HOA Board meetings for now) and our pool area. We hope that we can release these restrictions as soon as possible and will follow government guidelines for this.
This is also a time for us to help each other as a community. If you are in need of any help during this time, or know of someone in our community in need of help, with things like grocery shopping or a ride to a medical need, please send an email to timberlane2blog@gmai.com or contact Management De Novo and we have volunteers in our community who have stepped up to help their neighbors during this time. We'll connect you so that we all can make it through this time together. We have a growing number of school age children in our community and many of them are enjoying riding scooters (powered or not) and bicycles around our streets. We just want to remind everyone that California law requires that all children under the age of 18 to wear an approved helmet when riding any of these kinds of powered or unpowered vehicles or skates and skateboards. Please help your children be safe by complying with this law. Everyone wins when we protect our children.By now, most residents here at Timberlane II know that resident parking in parking spots marked "GUEST" is not allowed. However, it is also important that residents only park in their own designated RESERVED parking spaces unless authorized by the resident for the unit to which a space is designated. Any resident can call our towing company at any time to request that a vehicle parked in their designated reserved space be towed without requiring any further attempt to find the owner of the violating vehicle, so please respect the exclusive rights to use these reserved parking spaces. Thanks!
This is just a reminder that we share our natural community with other creatures in nature, including coyotes. There've been some recent sightings of coyotes walking down our streets at night. These creatures are generally shy and stay to themselves, but if you run across one, give them space and they'll be happy to go their own way. They serve a valuable place in our ecosystem as they help keep down other pests like rats and rabbits. However, a few years ago, coyotes took a cat from a back patio that was never seen again. This is rare, but we suggest that you not let your cats roam free at night or leave them on your patio unless your fence is quite high.
We have had several trees fall down in the past couple of years during storms in our Timberlane II community including a couple that caused significant damage to buildings and several “near misses”.
The high concentration of eucalyptus trees and pines in our area along with the drought-to-heavy-rain weather of the past few years has weakened or killed several trees here. The HOA Board had an arborist come in a couple of months ago to survey all our trees and he identified about 32 trees that are a serious safety risk. So we have contracted a tree removal company to have these trees removed and, in most cases to have the stumps also removed before this winter’s heavy storms arrive. There are at least twice that many more trees that are also showing weakness, but are considered a secondary safety issue for now. Tree removal is expensive and we want to keep as many trees on the property as possible for our aesthetics, but safety comes first. So, we are carefully removing dead and severely weakened trees and thinning clusters where eventual overgrowth is inevitable. This process will continue in the years to come. However, we are also planting many new trees each year here using species and placements that give the best aesthetics and will grow well in our area. We are all committed to keeping our community looking as nice as possible. You've probably seen that our landscape is looking so much better than it did a few years ago. It's not all that we want yet, but we are doing new beautification projects every month and we all have a continuing goal to add landscape/hardscape and refine current landscape to make our community even better and safer. The city of San Diego invites you to attend the Scripps Ranch Recreation Council meeting for the General Development Plan for Hendrix Pond/Aviary Park that abuts our community. Make your voice heard as there are many possible changes being considered to our nature park including an off-leash dog park. The meeting will be held this Thursday, September 12th, at the Scripps Ranch Recreation Center at 11454 Blue Cypress Drive, San Diego 92131. For more information, contact the project manager, Kevin Nguyen, at 619-533-7471 or at ktnguyen@sandiego.gov.
We have, unfortunately, recently received reports of vandalism occurring in our community, mostly to vehicles parked in guest parking, but also packages being taken from front door steps. Please stay aware if you see any crime in action. Do not confront the vandal, but contact police at 9-1-1 as soon as you can. Your HOA Board is actively developing surveillance and enforcement methods working with the San Diego Police Department to detect and deter vandalism in our community. We will work with the police to enforce the law to the maximum extent possible for anyone caught vandalizing any property. However, we need your help. If you, or someone you know, has been a victim of vandalism or theft, it is essential that you report the situation to the SD Police Department as soon as possible. They can be reached at 858-484-3154 or 619-531-2000. Without your report of the crime, our ability to enforce the law is limited.
Guest Parking Rules Reminder
With school back in session and summer vacations over, we want to remind all residents and owners about the rules regarding guest parking use at Timberlane II. Residents are not allowed to park in guest spots at any time. Guests are not allowed to park for more than three days out of seven in these spots. We have a very limited number of guest spots and they are for temporary use by our guests only. Monitoring and enforcement of these rules has been increased and violators are subject to notices, hearings, fines, and towing per our rules and parking procedures. If you have any questions, please contact Management De Novo. Thank you for your support to this for the benefit of all our neighbors. Unfortunately, several reports of criminal vandalism in our complex have been recently reported to our Board and property management company. Most of these incidents have been related to vehicles parked on our streets in authorized parking spaces. We want to do all we can to prevent future incidents and we asked any resident who has been a victim of a crime like this or who have witnessed a crime to please report the incident as soon as possible to the San Diego Police Department. If you see a crime in progress, contact them at 911. Or, for an after-incident report, call them at 619-531-2000 or 858-484-3154. It is very important to report crime in our complex, even if the "loss" is relatively small.
We are working with SDPD to increase their patrols, both night and day, on our streets, but they need to have actual victim crime reports to give us the attention we are looking for and only the victim of the crime can report the incident. The Board is implementing additional measures to help us detect and prevent further crimes and to aid the police in identifying who is responsible for these actions. We intend to pursue all legal actions possible to prosecute the perpetrator(s) of these criminal actions. |
